A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in February:

February: A Huge Celebration of Love!

I loved the times and shows we experienced together in February!

We celebrated the concept of Love together in all sorts of ways! From Rom Coms to Love Themed Music Bingo to discovering that those Conversation Heart Candies were made from a machine intended to make lozenges. We took a trip to Love Island at Headquarters Beercade. We also performed our favorite quotes from Rom Coms. Of course mine is from the Wedding Singer - "I wanna grow old with you"...because wouldn't we all be so lucky to experience a love like that in our lifetime. Be not surprised, my friends, this month wasn’t just about Cupids and hearts. We visited the world of Marvel Cinema at both Replay Andersonville and Sidetrack. And our favorite wild nights at Sidetrack also celebrated the phenomena of the shows Traitors and White Lotus. Among all our themed trivia shows, we had so many other classic nights of quizzical ballyhoo, including at a brand new bar, Roscoe Village Pub, now every Tuesday at 7 pm! We had the best opening night. This is our first show in the neighborhood, and we are so grateful for the community for coming out to support our new game show. February also saw not one but two trips south to Bridgeport for a special 90s-themed school fundraiser show and a show at a local bar, Mitchell's Tap. Our Music Bingo is growing every week! This month was FULL of really fun themes, including The Grammys, The Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, and Black History Month. We are having an absolute ball with you as we explore the world of music and share a lot of laughs along the way.

A real standout moment of my February was earlier in the month. A family was trying to get married on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, only to discover City Hall was closed! I was working the reception desk of Fourth Presbyterian church, when the grandmother, who was there to be a witness to the nuptials, called and asked if a pastor was available to officiate an impromptu wedding. We didn't have a pastor available...but I was!! An hour later we met in the church courtyard, just as the snow started to fall, and gathered to do an impromptu ceremony and create a memory to share for a lifetime. How Romantic!

FUN FACT OF THE MONTH!

The word bookkeeper is the only unhyphenated English word with three consecutive double letters!

Sparkle Squad Spotlights!

We want to give a special shoutout to Olivia Wheeler! She has been a truly terrific addition to the Sparkle Squad! She recently took on the daunting task of helping me keep this busy Stewpendous Schedule in order by staffing all of our shows with your favorite Squad members, making sure we successfully deliver the best shows for our guests. When she is not stepping in to sub shows and helping me keep the Stewpendous house in order, Olivia can be seen on stages across Chicagoland. She truly is a ray of sunshine!

Stewpendous Productions firmly believes that trivia is always better when snacks are involved. We want to take the opportunity to celebrate our love of Pop Culture with whacky concepts on snacks and cocktails. Nostalgia is a key pillar of our quizzical philosophy! Every month, we’ll give you a fun, nostalgic recipe that will awaken your memories!

March Gatherings

This month there are going to be a lot of gatherings with friends happening. We have the Oscars on March 2nd, the big basketball tournament throughout the month, and let’s not forget about St. Paddy’s Day. We want to provide you with nostalgic throwbacks to dazzle your guests and deliver delicious hits to enjoy when you host a party or bring the party to a friend's house.

For the savory side, we recommend this quickie French Bread Pizza. Those frozen oven baked ones were a favorite of mine growing up.

Sausage French Bread Pizza

Recipe found on Taste of Home

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf (1 pound) unsliced French bread

  • 1-1/3 cups prepared Alfredo sauce

  • 3 cooked Italian sausage links, chopped

  • 1 can (2-1/4 ounces) sliced ripe olives, drained

  • 1 small sweet red pepper, chopped

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh broccoli

  • 1/2 cup fresh cauliflowerets

  • 2-1/4 cups sliced fresh mushrooms

  • 1-1/2 cups shredded pizza cheese blend

Directions:

  1. Cut bread in half horizontally; place on a baking sheet. Spread the cut sides with Alfredo sauce. Sprinkle with sausage, olives, red pepper, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and cheese.

  2. Bake at 350° until heated through, 15-20 minutes. Cut into 16 pieces.

For the Sweet Tooth we recommend this Oreo Mud Pie

Oreo Mud Pie

Ingredients:

  • Oreos: 16 Oreos to create 1-1/2 cups of Oreo crumbs, plus a few extra for the decoration. Also, avoid scraping out the cream center

  • Sugar: Optionally sweeten the Oreo crust with 1-1/2 tsp of granulated sugar.

  • Butter: Melt 1/4 cup of butter for the crust.

  • Ice cream: Chocolate chip or coffee ice cream tastes best in this easy mud pie recipe.

Chocolate syrup: Grab your favorite!

Directions:

  1. Create the Crust

  2. Assemble the first layer

  3. Add the second layer

  4. Decorate and serve!
