A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in December:
The Wicked and Wild 30 Days of November
We have so much to be thankful for this month! We started the month Defying Gravity by celebrating the hit movie Wicked (it’s so good right?) at several places around Chicago. We visited our favorite Housewives at Sidetrack and celebrated animated Royalty with a Disney Princess Trivia night at both Sidetrack and Replay Andersonville.
Our newest game, Music Bingo, is growing and continuing to delight Love Biscuits across Chicagoland! If you haven’t experienced it yet, you need to. We have three opportunities during the week to play Music Bingo. Near the West Loop at Punch Bowl Social on Sunday afternoons, in Lakeview at The Sports Corner on Tuesday nights, and up in Avondale at Soul & Smoke on Thursday nights. It will be the perfect activity for any holiday guest you might be hosting over the next few weeks.
November also provided us with a couple of opportunities to deliver our shows to the burbs for corporate events. I always feel like Jasmine exploring a Whole New World when I go out there ~cue Stew Laugh~. If you are looking to flip your Boredroom to a FUNroom we would love to bring the Stewpendous Fun Train to your office. Our website has more about what we can bring to you, so check it out.
FUN FACT OF THE MONTH!
The Yule Log began as part of Winter Solstice festivities. The burning of the Yule log was lit to entice the Sun to return as part of the Jól (Yule) festival in Scandinavia. The word "Yule" comes from the Old Norse word Jól, which refers to a Pagan festival celebrating the rebirth of the sun. Let's burn our Yule Logs and get that Sun to come back as quickly as possible!
Upcoming Stewpendous Chicago Trivia in December!
I relate to George Bailey running down the streets shouting “Merry Christmas!” because I just love this time of the year! HEE HAW!! The days leading up to the Holidays will be jam-packed with opportunities to deliver holiday cheer and quizzical good times practically every day of the week.
This is an announcement to those of you reading this newsletter today, December 7th. TOMORROW, December 8th, will be a great opportunity to breathe in the Holiday Spirit. I'll be running A Trivia Trolley during the Holidays in Andersonville event from 1 to 3 pm. Hop on the trolley, answer some questions, win prizes, then hop off and shop small businesses! Honestly, what else would you do on a Sunday afternoon? (Unless you're over at Punch Bowl Social playing Music Bingo).

Sparkle Squad Spotlights!
In addition to performing theatre and working on films, Matt Keely and Rachel Herring have hosted their own shows across the Chicagoland area with Stewpendous Productions for over a year. We love their willingness to always swing into a brand new show and it is one of the many reasons why they deserve sometime in the Sparkle Squad Spotlight!
Do you love The Onion? Do you love the Theatre? Follow The Broadway Beat, @bwaybeatnews. It's an Onion-style satire site focused on the theatre world. Our very own Matt Keely is a contributing writer!
Check out Rachel Herring in "It's a Wonderful Life Radio Play" at the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture, December 13 - 29th. Now that is a quintessential Holiday viewing!
Trivia Time!
This December 25th will be a rare occurrence that hasn’t happened since 2005. This same occurrence took place in 1959, 1921 and 1910.
What is taking place on Dec. 25th, 2024?

Buy Eggnog? No Thanks, I will MAKE Eggnog!
I have a goal for myself, and it’s a little wild, but sometimes you gotta risk it for the biscuit. This year, I want to try to make my own EGGNOG! It’s totally out of my comfort zone, but sometimes in life, you have to push yourself out of the Christmas box and give it a shot. If you are up for the challenge with me, let's do it! If you are an Egg Nog Making Pro, tips and tricks are highly encouraged and accepted. Please reach out with them.
Homemade Eggnog Ingredients (recipe from Delish)
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, plus more for serving
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
6 large egg yolks
1/2 c. (100 g.) granulated sugar
1 c. heavy cream
1 c. bourbon or rum (optional)
Whipped cream, for serving
Directions
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla and slowly bring to a low boil.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until yolks are pale in color. Working in batches, slowly add hot milk mixture to egg yolks to temper eggs and whisk until combined.
Return mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until slightly thickened and coats the back of a spoon but does not boil. (If you're using a candy or instant-read thermometer, mixture should register 160º.)
Remove from heat and stir in cream and bourbon (if using). Refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours and up to 4 days in an airtight container.
When ready to serve, divide eggnog among mugs. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon.
